I was at the Botanic Gardens in Singapore, and I saw a nice light coming through the branches of the trees with mist from a flower spray and colours combined together and I was desperate to take a photo of it. I loved how it came out, how you can vividly see through the flowers but there are also dark shadowy bits too. I also like how the light has been split up like fingers.

I was fascinated by the movement of the ripples in water and the metaphorical connection they have with us as humans. They start at one point and ripple out circles from their origin – each ripple a memory that slowly fades as it gets further from its origin – similar to our own memories.

This is a very important photo for me. This was taken during my first attempt at using a telephoto lens. I was alone by the side of the lake late at night and wanted to attempt a self portrait. I ended up having the photo expose for 3 seconds roughly, and using off camera flashes to expose myself. I planned to move half way through the exposure to create a phase in/phase out effect. Admittedly, the phase effect isn't as prominent, but I am happy with how it turned out considered I was guessing the focus as I couldn't have anyone help me and I had no remote to let the camera autofocus on me. At the same time I was estimating the timings and hoping my framing was correct. I think this speaks to both man and the environment as well as waiting as it comments on how we as society have an attention span that is only a few milliseconds. Now, memes and societal norms come and go so fast. Everything is relevant and at the same time nothing is relevant and I wanted to highlight how even the most permanent of things are never really appreciated.
